Backpacker Specials
A long, boring but necessary introduction ....
How many days do you have free to enjoy doing a wild, personally-planned fun tour designed specifically for the young (and the young at heart) travellers, who know how to travel without needing to be pampered all the way? That's really all you initially have to decide. Get the family or your group of friends around and start making plans! (Up to 8 persons, and the closer to 8 you are, the lower the individual cost).
Your group will enjoy the exclusivity of a really comfortable air-conditioned mini-van driven by their own friendly, qualified driver-guide, but with one difference to the normal pattern on these exclusive tours - by opting to go not for luxury hotels overnight, you've perhaps decided to make a longer tour, doing and seeing more by 'roughing it' a little. That means staying in hostel accommodation or simpler B&B's. They'll still be clean and friendly but more basic AND much less expensive than hotels or the fancier guest houses.
Perhaps your group includes some 'not-so-young' members, who are concerned about feeling out of place? Tell them not to worry! European hostels see a very wide age range of guests these days. So no matter if your group's members are in their 20's or their 60's, provided they have a 'young-at-heart' attitude they'll do fine and have a truly great time, with plenty of laughs along the way.
Maybe your group would like to plan their own, unique itinerary? There's more than enough UK travel and sightseeing information on this website to enable you to do just that, and you're rewarded with a reduced charge for your driver-guide's services. (Naturally, we'll run over the itinerary with you before confirming your booking and advise where appropriate if something looks like a bad idea, or not sensible from the geographical/practical point of view, but essentially it can be YOUR tour, not ours! We also take care of booking your accommodations.)
If you've ever taken one of those organised big bus tours where you had a nice professional guide and a nice driver but shared them with 50 or so other people of differing tastes, backgrounds and preferences who had all been thrown together, and you loved every minute of it, then we're very sorry but we can't help you. On the other hand, if you liked the ease of getting around, enjoyed the humour, the commentaries and companionship of the guide, relaxed in the security of a professional driver but just really wished you could have enjoyed a tad more shoulder and leg room, and taken longer at the stops which appealed more to you without feeling 'herded along' - you've certainly come to the right place!
To conclude: if you won't mind the lack of luxury on the accommodations front because your group will be out and about enjoying the local scene every evening, not sitting around a hotel room - then the cost-savings using hostels over guest house/hotel accommodations can be considerable! This would allow you to make a longer trip - the airfare's the same after all - and how often do you think you'll be able to get to see this country? So if we've 'rung the right bells' with this pre-amble, go to it and start making your plans! (Important note though: We are always busy during May, June, July, August and September, so book early - up to a year ahead - to avoid disappointment.
